Love is at the very center of the Christian message. God himself has shown us great love, and we in turn are to reflect his love to others. There is a wealth of teaching in God’s word about this love; here is just a sample.
1. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” – Deuteronomy 6:4-5
2. “All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.” – Psalm 25:10
3. “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.” – Exodus 15:13
4. “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” – Psalm 103:8
5. “Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.” – John 17:25
6. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.” – Lamentations 3:22
7. “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.” – Revelation 2:4
8. “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
9. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called the children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” – 1 John 3:1
10. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4-5
11. “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”– Romans 8:38-39
12. “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” 1 John 3:16
13. “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
14. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44
15. “And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’” – Luke 10:27
16. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:12-13
17. “Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” – Romans 13:10
18. “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three: but the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13
19. “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” – Colossians 3:19
20. “And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” – Ephesians 5:2
