My 5 for Friday (March 19, 2021)

How should you spend your stimulus check? How can you create a retirement budget? And how can we all be hospitable?

These questions and more are answered in this week's My 5 for Friday.

  1. Let Us All Be Hospitable by Courtney Reissig. Hospitality tends to be thought of as the responsibility of the wife or mother of the home. However, the Bible teaches that all Christians—men and women and children—are to be hospitable. Practicing hospitality reflects God’s character, showing others what he is like.

  2. How Should I Spend My Stimulus Payment? 4 Biblical Principles by Alex Kocman. As a third wave of stimulus checks begin to hit bank accounts, how can we glorify God with this financial aid? Kocman asks us to consider eternity, by honoring God with our increase, practicing spiritual discernment, remembering our responsibilities, and being sacrificial.

  3. Process Goal vs Outcome Goal: How to Use Them to Achieve Success by Tess Miller. Goal setting can be an intimidating task. It is frustrating, too, to set goals and fail to meet them. Understanding the difference between outcomes and processes can bring clarity to the task. Starting with an outcome goal in mind, and process goals along the way, is a helpful way forward.

  4. How to Create a Retirement Budget by Rachel Hartman. Are you on the verge of retirement, or already there? Have you ever been concerned you would run out of money? Estimating expenses, needs, and lifestyle changes is a helpful place to start. Make a spending plan and test it out!

  5. ERLC Resources From the Year of COVID-19 by ERLC Staff. The outbreak of COVID-19 about a year ago officially became a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. Since then, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission has worked to help Christians think and respond to this worldwide crisis. The staff at ERLC has gathered all the resources into one place for ongoing COVID help today.
